Am I Hipster Enough For The Hipster Club?
Monday, August 19, 2013 | 1:38 AM | 2 comments
My brother was in town this weekend and asked me if I could take some photos for him. He was going for a hipster look, whatever that may be. I feel like the hipster category is so broad and can be a lot of things. Either way, I think he pulled it off really well. Then again calling yourself a hipster is totally not hipster. So forget I ever said any of this. Lol!

See The Sunlight Through The Trees...
Thursday, August 15, 2013 | 5:33 AM | 0 comments
I think I must've spent hours today looking at different people's blogs and how lovely they were set up, DIY Tutorials (I'm obsessed!!!) recipes and so much more. One blog I couldn't stop looking at & I highly recommend is A Beautiful Mess. I love it. They have so many things on their blog, I love it! (They even have an iPhone photo app and I simply adore it!) I was drawn to their photography tab and I swear I read each post they had on photography. I've been meaning to take pictures more. I didn't buy my DSLR camera just so it could collect dust. So these ladies have inspired me to take photos and to do things with my photos, like print them and use them around the house, not just take up space on my computer. I've been bumming around this week (Applying for jobs too...the frustration from that deserves a post of it's own) but tomorrow I might go print some pictures of mine that I've taken. I might also go take some photos & I'll make sure to post them here. But for now I'll leave you with some pictures I took a couple of months ago that I've been meaning to post.

I love when the trees flowers blossom in the spring. They aren't there for long so I was really happy that I caught them before they fell. These were taken in my best friends back yard. He loves playing the guitar so he played while I took photos. They turned out lovely. I hope you like them. Enjoy!

I Might Just Be Slightly Obsessed With Makeup....In A Good Way Though.....
Saturday, March 9, 2013 | 11:48 PM | 4 comments
So every time I get paid, I always seem to find myself drawn to makeup stores, lurking in the aisles of Sephora or testing numerous lipsticks at M.A.C.

When I don't have money, I have to stop myself from walking in the stores cuz I'll almost always walk out with something and with less money in my wallet.

I really like makeup, but not in the way that I can't live without it. I can. I'm not one of those girls that can't walk out of the house without a face full of makeup on. I like giving my skin a break because otherwise I'll start breaking out. But I like makeup because I feel like it gives me a chance to be creative and show my personality. I teach pre-school, kindergarten and first grade kids 5 days a week and I can't really wear dramatic lipsticks or wicked cool looking eyeshadow while at work. It would just seem inappropriate at my workplace. But after work is over and the weekend arrives I love going into the city of Chicago, exploring, hanging out with my friends with a fresh face of awesome looking makeup and nice dramatic lips. Granted lip gloss and eye liner will always be my best friends and when I dont feel like putting anything else on, I'll just put those on, but I love trying new things. I always say my face is my canvas and I'm ready to create.

I'm still somewhat new to all of this. I'm not an expert. I don't have a whole blog or YT channel dedicated to this, but this is something I just like to do for fun. I think my makeup and clothes are a physical example of my creative, loud, kind and loving personality. So with all that being said, I recently bought some new lipstick about 2 weeks ago. I really like them a lot.

Like I said, I'm in LOVE with M.A.C. and Sephora. My cousins got me hooked on these stores and the array of makeup from them a couple of years ago.

I wanted a nude lipstick. I was watching some YT videos and I stumbled upon this lovely diva's channel Erica Fae and she was showing her favorite lipsticks. One of them was a nude lip from M.A.C. I had just recently read an article about how every woman should have a nice nude lipstick. So with that being said, I went to M.A.C. and tried on some nude lipsticks. I tried on the lipstick Erica Fae shows in her video but it was too light on me. I'm slightly darker than her so that's probably why. I know everyone can't wear the same shade of nude on their lips. So the lovely ladies working at M.A.C. suggested I try Viva Glam II. I tried it. I loved it. I bought it.
I really like it because it's appropriate enough for work.
I love it!

$15 at M.A.C.

I just recently started wearing red lipstick. My dad hates it. Well he doesn't hate it but he always says to me
"It's too red!"
But whatever, his baby girl is grown up now. He used to really not like it, but now he just says that to be funny and mess with me.
My cousin had suggested a Nars Matte Lip Pencil to me, "Dragon Girl" I had already bought one called "Sex Machine" I love it a lot. It's actually almost gone :(
I've used it sooooo much. It's another appropriate lipstick for work. Usually we both like the same things so I thought, "Hey I'll probably like it if she likes it!"
Well........I tried it on.....and it was just ok. It was a red matte but it was like a dark reddish pink color. I don't know it just didn't give me the pop I wanted.
I wasn't gonna buy a lipstick I just thought was ok. Especially at $25 a pop.
(NARS is pretty pricey but I love it regardless)
So I proceed to go to M.A.C. and the same day I bought my Viva Glam II, I bought my Ruby Woo.
Now I looooove this lipstick. It's a matte lipstick, so it doesn't glide and shimmer like most lipsticks do. I don't know why but I've just been loving me some matte lipsticks lately. This lipstick makes me feel like I've stepped back into the 1950s or walked onto the set of Mad Men. I love this lipstick. It makes me feel grown. Like a woman and not a little girl. It's was also $10 cheaper than the Nars matte pencil and it'll probably last longer. I don't have pictures of it on my lips yet but when I do I definitely will post them!

This last one is a favorite. It actually was an impulse buy. I saw an article about orange lipsticks the other day and dared myself to try it on to see how it looked. I was surprised with the result. It gave me that same feeling my red lipsticks give me. A bold bright color that stands out, just like my personality. This is Red Square and it's a Nars Matte Lip Pencil and I love it. I proudly wore it to my Weight Watchers meeting last week. Again, I'm loving matte lipsticks right now so this is definitely one of my faves. Now I do have pics of myself with this color on. So I'll post those below.

Nars Matte Lip Pencil in "Red Square"
$25 at Sephora or Macy's

I also bought a orange lip liner to go with my Nars Lip Pencil. They had orange lip liners at Sephora. How convenient! LOL!
(I actually forgot how much it was. It was Sephora brand so it was a lot cheaper than the name brands. I think it might have been $5)

Here are the four colors (Top to Bottom)
Viva Glam II
Ruby Woo
Red Square
Sephora Lip Liner

Rockin' that Red Square Nars Lip Pencil!

Well that's it for now. Let me know what you think. Do you like wearing lipstick or is it not your thing? And if it is, do you like wearing bold colors, keeping it more neutral, or do you like a bit of both? Until next time XOXO

^.^ Iquo ^.^
